Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), is one of the fastest growing watersports in the world. The popularity of the modern sport of SUP has its origination in the Hawaiian Islands. The Hawaiian translation is Ku Hoe He’e Nalu; to stand, to paddle, to surf, a wave. Unlike surfing, paddleboarding is very easy to learn. Within one hour, you can become very comfortable on your board.
SUP can be enjoyed in the open ocean, lakes, rivers, harbours or any large body of water. There are many different paddleboards on the market for people to choose from, to suit their paddleboarding needs. For example, there are race SUP’s, all-rounder/cruising SUP’s, wave SUP’s, fishing SUP’s etc…whatever you choose to do on a sup, there is one for you.

Why Choose Pro Paddle?
Sup is the word on everyone’s lips and it is only gaining in popularity. As the head instructor at ProPaddle Mackay, Sup isn’t just my business, it is my passion. Whether it be on a Sup or Outrigger Canoe, paddling is what I love to do. I come from an ocean background, originally through Surf Life Saving and then onto Outrigging and Stand Up Paddling. I have spent 15 years paddling in the ocean both locally and overseas. It is this experience that I am now using to teach people to sup and provide services to further develop the sport of stand-up paddle in the Mackay region.
I ensure that all my lessons are run to the highest standards in terms of safety and coaching principles and will strive to be an industry leader in the sport Stand Up Paddle boarding.
See you on the water.
